The Material City (2019)
The Material City is a celebration of Australian architects and designers whose work explores problems of urban density in Australia’s capital cities.
These case studies demonstrate how local architects are responding to, and facilitating, urban densification in the context of Australia and the particularities of each location. They also highlight the nuances in Australian architecture and represent the ingenuity and creativity of the architecture industry.
With 50 projects and 20 essays, this book is for anyone who is interested in urban architecture and design, and how we seek to manage population densities.
An Australian Story (2017)
This commissioned work of history (published 2017) provides the background and context to an Australian story – that of Twilight Aged Care. Established by leading Sydney feminists and male supporters in 1912, Twilight House was the unusual brainchild of those who recognised the need to care for elderly women with limited means of support. At a time when the state had little or no involvement in what we now call the ‘aged care sector’, the opening of its first care home in 1915 was a bold move.
